The Recreational Park Committee, formerly the Tennis Committee, met on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 9:00 am at the CFA clubhouse. Members present: Wally Wallace, Dannie Cox. Excused: Noel Nicely. Guest: Tom Sargent, Chairman of the Board.

NOTE:

  1. Items are accomplished as funding becomes available; no time limit was established.
  2. There is sufficient room (see plat plan below) to accommodate all facilities.
  3. Tom Sargent is pursuing the establishement of a non-profit foundation for the administration and funding of these projects.
A. Establishment of such a non-profit foundation would enable us to get construction assistance for the NC Army National Guard, Army Reserve Engineer Battalions and Navy Seabee units, when available.
B. Such foundation would allow planning for and implementation of various fund raisers for needed facilities.
C. Such foundation would encourage donations and bequests from Carolina Forest residents and others who may have interest in donating.

One suggestion was to utilize the current tennis courts as (1) parking area by moving the existing fence up to the current net line. (2) The other side of the current tennis court could be used for (A) a basketball goal area, i.e., half court and a miniature golf course. The existing fence can be reused and painted an attractive forest green. Considerable clearing and grading would be required depending on the location of particular projects. The furthest project in the future would be a swimming pool. This in itself would require considerable parking. One important note here is the requirement to pipe water away and to the nearest creek in case the pool would need to be drained. This would need to be included in any bid for the pool. Also to be included would be larger bath houses to accommodate a much larger pool.

LEGEND: Note: The plat plan is not to scale and projects are indicated as general locations only.
