The CFA annual meeting and election was held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 7th. Seven candidates ran for three Director seats. Cyndi Caviness, Dannie Cox, and Larry Neyens were elected to two-year terms. The new board then selected Rick Lynthacum as the fourth highest vote getter to serve out the remaining one year in Mark McLean’s term. Mark resigned from the board on May 13th.
Thanks to Mark McLean for all his hard work and commitment to CFA. He has served well on numerous committees and as a Board Member this past year. We'll miss his input.
The newly elected board chose Tom Sargent as Chair. John Olmstead, Tom Miller and Andy King were re-appointed as President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Dolly Tyndall was appointed as Vice President after the resignation of Robert Jackson at the meeting. We’d like to thank Robert for his service.
We’d also like to thank Cindy King for serving as the ARC Chairperson for the past several years. She and her family have sold their home and will be relocating. Jim Caviness has actively assumed the role as our new ARC Chair.
After serving 4 years as a Director and Entertainment Committee Chair, Norma Jean Redmon retired from both positions on June 7th. Thank you, Norma Jean for all your hard work. Maybe now that you've retired you'll take the time to enjoy being lazy.
Michelle King has been appointed by the board to act as Entertainment Chair. Thanks to Michelle for accepting this huge responsibility! The committee is seeking members and/or folks who can serve food at events. If interested, please contact Michelle at 910-572-3977.
The Second Annual CFA Community Yard Sale was held on Saturday, May 17th and was a great success. Many families participated.
CFA is fortunate to have many "Silent Volunteers". They quietly go about helping the association without desire for recognition. A very special "Hats Off" to all these folks! We know you're out there helping and sincerely appreciate it. CFA could not function without the efforts of volunteers!
Mooring cleats are not allowed on the CFA piers and Marina walkways. Standoffs have been installed on the new boat slips. They’re designed to allow a boat to ride up and down with the lake level without damage to either the boat to the dock when used properly. If you need guidance in learning how to use these standoffs, please contact the CFA Office.
DSL is now available to residents. If you want to replace your old dial-up Internet connection, contact Embarq at 910-572-1355.
The Pool is open seven days a week from 10:00am until 10:00pm and is staffed with a pool attendant. When you arrive please be prepared to sign in. We are selling soft drinks, bottled water and a small assortment of snacks at the pool for $.50 each. Please be aware that after hours/ unauthorized pool use could jeopardize CFA’s pool license.
The RV Sites at the campground are full and a waiting list is being maintained at the office. There are still tent sites available.
The Marina is also full and a waiting list is being maintained at the office.
Campers should note that the clubhouse basement bathrooms are the safest havens we have in the event of a severe storm. These rooms should always be unlocked, but if they are locked for some unforeseen reason, the guard can unlock them.
There are 18 houses in various stages of construction and several more that will be breaking ground throughout the summer months. We’re booming!
